Rose Garden
It makes Zweibrücken the "Rose City": The Rose Garden is a place of relaxation and deceleration in the heart of the city. Europe's rose garden is a park of more than 50,000 m², in which more than 60,000 rose bushes of 2,000 different varieties are arranged. The park is one of the largest gardens in Europe and is the third largest rose garden in the world. The park was opened in 1914 by Princess Hildegard of Bavaria. Throughout the summer, the visitor is presented with a variety of roses in the beautiful scenery of the rose garden, which is dominated by ponds, shrubs and plants. The third weekend in June, when the roses blossom, marks the beginning of the so-called Zweibrücker Rosentage (Rose days). But the park is also worth seeing in early spring when the spring flowers blossom and from the beginning of April when the wild roses blossom. Every Sunday afternoon from May to September there are performances of the Rose Garden concert series.
